THE METROPOLITAN LINE EXTENSION. A sewer diversion is required in Baldwins Lane as part of the Metropolitan Line Extension. In order to build the new viaduct over Baldwins Lane, Thames Water must divert the main sewer which runs down the road. This work will take place from Monday 19 September for 5 weeks. From Monday 19 September until Saturday 22 October there will be single lane working on Baldwins Lane managed by temporary traffic lights. The extent of this work means we can not lift the traffic management during peak-hour periods. We will also need to suspend parking alongside the eastbound carriageway of Baldwins Lane for the duration of the work. We are aiming to avoid any footway closures, but the nature of the work means it may be necessary to close the western footpath under the bridge for short periods of time. We will be working throughout the week, Saturdays and every other Sunday, in order to complete these works as quickly as possible. Our working hours will be: Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm Saturdays and Sundays, 7am to 1pm The work is still subject to final approvals from Hertfordshire County Council Highways. Following this work, we will need to carry out another significant sewer diversion in Watford Road. We will write to you again with more details as they develop. We will work with Thames Water to minimise any noise and disruption.
