Commendation for Croxley Green Parish Council

It is with great delight that Croxley Green Parish Council announces that they have been the recipients of a commendation from the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) for their work in creating a bird-box trail for the village.

The trail, which was installed in Croxley Green at the beginning of the year, houses 45 bird-boxes across all areas of the village. Residents are able to pick up leaflets outlining the locations of the boxes which also contain information relating to the species of trees on which the boxes were installed.

Representative from Croxley Green Parish Council, Ryan Bennett, commented “we are grateful to the CPRE for seeing the value of this project and the commendation illustrates the fine work being undertaken by your Parish Council who continue to work hard every day to improve our rural environment”.

The trail was the brainchild of former councillor David Wynne-Jones whom championed the project from its inception and sadly passed away in July this year. In tribute to David the trail will be renamed the Wynne-Jones Bird-Box Trail in recognition of the hard work he put in to getting this project off the ground.

The CPRE expressed that the project “is a fantastic example of a Parish Council being great stewards of the environment”.

Hertfordshire County Council Chairman Richard Thake was on hand to present the commendation to the Council at the County Hall in Hertford.
