At their Council meeting on June 28th Croxley Green Parish Council agreed to supply a £7000 grant to the All Saints WW1 Memorial Glass Doors Committee. The Memorial Glass Doors will be situated at All Saints Church and will commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1. The Council had previously made a budget provision of £7000 in anticipation of the awarding of the grant due to the size of the grant being asked for. Although there was not a consensus amongst all Cllrs a majority of Cllrs did support the awarding of the grant and as such it was approved. The consecration of the WW1 memorial doors will take place at All Saint’s Church on Sunday October 14 at 4pm. The Bishop of St. Albans will be attending. This is just one of the ways that the Parish Council will be commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1. This year’s Remembrance Parade will be larger than previous year’s and will also feature a separate service at the War Memorial at 11am. More details about the parade will be available in the coming months. Residents are also urged to visit the Croxley Green History Project website to find out more about Croxley Green during the time of the Great War.
