I have lived in Croxley Green since 1981 and my two sons went to local schools (Malvern Way, Little Green and Watford Grammar School) before leaving to study at university. Whilst they were growing up I was involved with the Pump House Children and Youth Theatre and the Croxley Green and Rickmansworth Scout Groups. My personal interests include gardening, walking, the theatre and opera, and politics. I have had many years’ practical experience of home maintenance.
I trained as a civil engineer and worked overseas and in the UK before joining the Building Research Establishment at Garston in 1975 and becoming a civil servant. I worked in the Department of the Environment and the Department of Transport before joining Transport for London. When I left TfL in 2002 I worked as an independent consultant until 2015. My professional interests include public administration, project management, roads, transport and planning.
I was co-opted onto the Parish Council in 2015, was elected vice-chair of the P&D committee in 2016, chair in 2017, and vice chair of the Council in 2018. I was re-elected to the Council in 2019 and elected chair in 2019 & 2020.
