P&D Chairman

Cllr Guy Parks

I have lived in Croxley Green with my family since 1986, We enjoy living here, the community events, and the proximity to open countryside. Our two children attended local schools and have now left home to pursue their careers.

I am a registered architect, and since 1995 I have worked as a project manager, leading the building process on a range of projects. As head of capital projects at the British Museum, and then at a London Royal Borough Council, I managed teams of project managers running programmes of work of up to £50m pa.

Some of the highlights of my career have been five new galleries and the members’ room at the British Museum. Also, a new 3 form entry primary school, where the joy it brought to the school community was particularly rewarding. I’d love to continue that service to the community.

I am a member of St Oswald’s Church, a past churchwarden, and currently chair of the finance and general purposes committee. I enjoy car & house maintenance, gardening, dinghy sailing, travelling & caravanning, the theatre & concerts, and I have a season ticket at Watford FC.

I was delighted to be co-opted on to the parish council in 2021, and am looking forward to putting something back into the community as part of the council.

I am keen to support preservation of the countryside and local footpaths, and to help prevent The Green from being affected by development. As an architect I would like to help maintain the character of the built environment, and ensure that we reduce our carbon footprint whenever possible.

I believe the main purpose of a councillor is to listen to what the community want, then to use one’s skills to help to achieve any changes required. If you have any ideas or concerns, do get in touch.
