Croxley Green Shines Bright at Diwali Celebrations

Hundreds of residents gathered on Saturday 11 October to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Light, at a vibrant community event organised by Croxley Green Parish Council.

The evening’s celebrations began at Yorke Mead School, where attendees enjoyed live cultural performances, delicious food, craft stalls, henna art, and lantern making. The festivities continued with the spectacular Diwali Lights Switch-On on New Road, transforming the heart of Croxley into a dazzling display of colour and light.

The event was free and open to all, welcomed residents from across the community to share in the joy of Diwali.

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE CStJ, joined the celebrations and officially switched on the lights, which now illuminate the Birch Trees on New Road — a radiant symbol of Croxley Green’s unity and community spirit.

Cllr Cheryl Stungo, who hosted the evening from the stage, said:

“The energy and joy in the air were incredible. Seeing people of all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate Diwali here in Croxley is really special. It’s a beautiful reminder of the strength of our community.”

The Parish Council extended heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers, performers, staff, and residents whose efforts made the evening such a success.
