There are 2 vacancies available. Vacancies will be filled via co-option. Co-option refers to the process of filling casual vacancies on the council by appointing individuals rather than holding a formal election. When a seat becomes vacant due to resignation, retirement, or other reasons, the Parish Council has the option to co-opt a new member to fill the vacancy until the next scheduled local election.
Candidates will be expected to present their applications to the current councillors for consideration at the CGPC meeting on 25th September, starting at 8pm at the Parish Council offices. Councillors will then vote for candidates to fill the 2 vacancies.
Council meetings generally take place once or twice a week, depending on committee schedule, at Croxley Green Parish Council Office Chambers starting at 8 pm.
The council currently has the following standing Committees; Leisure, Events and Environment Committee, Planning and Development Committee, Finance and Administration Committee and HR & Compliance Committee.
In addition, Councillors attend Full Council Meeting seven times during the year. Committees are dealing with a wide range of matters such as planning applications, environmental issues and initiatives, footpaths, events and a lot more. Councillors are required to attend in person to be eligible to vote.
Whilst no formal qualification is necessary to be a councillor, being open minded, diligent, attending meetings and participating at the Council events is essential. Councillors are guided by the Council’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Policies and are accountable to the residents of Croxley Green.
