LEE Committee Chairman

Cllr David Montague

I have a BSc in Biochemistry and gained a Doctorate in 1981 from the University of Sussex and the WHO National Institute of Biological Standards, London. After doing research I joined Amersham International and had positions of increasing responsibility within the Company as it evolved from Amersham through to Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, part of Johnson and Johnson.

I ran large R&D departments and led global teams to deliver over 40 new diagnostic products in the diagnosis of Infectious disease, Thyroid disease, Myocardial Infarction and the treatment of infertility. When I retired in July 2016 I was the Director and Global Project Leader responsible for assay development. During retirement I have been acting as an industry expert on teams supporting the government SAGE committee during the COVID Pandemic.

Croxley and Rickmansworth Community Background

Resident of Croxley Green since 1984 and our three children attended Yorke Mead School where my wife was chair of Governors for several years and I built carnival floats and helped run many events including the Yorke Mead Firework display. I have been running the display since 1998.  I also ran the firework display on the Green for the Croxley Millennium celebrations and helped the team building “Big Ben”.

I have led the team that organises the Rickmansworth Festival since 2000 and grown it from its early beginnings to the large community event it is now. Currently Chairman of Rickmansworth Waterways Trust, the charity based at Batchworth Lock and also a director of the Rickmansworth Town Team.

Decided when I retired to become more involved in the community that I had spent the majority of my life in and was very grateful to be co-opted onto the Parish Council early in 2017. I am currently chairman of the Environment & Amenity Committee.
